ABOUT ME

My approach to therapy.

My approach to counseling is first and foremost one of non-judgment, compassion, and warmth. Initially trained as a relationship and family therapist, I have worked with children, teens, families, couples and individual adults in both inpatient and outpatient settings since 2009.

In order to provide effective counseling, I will utilize a blend of methods from Emotionally Focused Therapy, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Reality Therapy and Motivational Interviewing as is appropriate for each unique individual or couple with which I work, depending on your concerns and treatment goals. In other words, I listen to your story, help you heal old wounds, gain new perspectives and ways of being and help you implement practical solutions. I have experience and training using traditional talk therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy, Narrative Therapy, family systems therapy, Emotionally-Focused Therapy and trauma-informed care, all practiced through an anti-oppression framework. Nurturing a spirit of mindfulness is also foundational to the work I do. To learn more about how I can help and what issues I can help you address, check out the Services tab at the top of this page.

My identity and who's welcome here.

I'm a white, cishet, able-bodied, middle-class woman who is focused on the work of decolonizing my way of being in the world and how I see and make sense of the past, present, and future. It's critical that I seek out this work every, single day so that I am not relying on folx in marginalized communities to take on additional emotional and mental labor on my behalf. I'm also a feminist and an anti-hate, anti-racist, LGBTQIA2S+ affirming counselor. I'm affirming of all supportive and loving relationships, including ethical non-monogamy, polyamory, and open relationships.

On whose land my practice is located.

My office is on the unceded and traditional lands of the Confederated Tribes of the Grande Ronde, Clackamas, Confederated Tribes of Siletz Indians, and Cascades Nations.
